The Truth About The Cleaning Industry
Most contractors have to bait and switch because they are only getting 20 to 40% of the profits. For example if a job is $80 they are only getting up to $32 on the high end to do the cleaning job right and that does not include gas & vehicle repairs. Ask yourself who would want to clean an entire home for $32 dollars? The answer is no one, because the owners of those types of establishments do not make any money off of low coupon sales prices. It takes tens of thousands of dollars per month to advertise for 5 employees and make a profit but only thousands of dollars per month for 5 contractors. Why? Because the contractors are the sales force.
Carpet Cleaning Contractors
Quick Buck Artist
These are the people who buy a new van with new equipment but have a regular job from 9 to 5 or 3 to 11. They will advertise at a very low price and do the job but do a quick clean in and out. That is the #1 complaint I hear from new customers. When a customer base their needs on the cheapest deal they can find, they're better off saving their money and doing it themselves or save up for a better cleaning service.

Cleaning Education
There are a number of cleaning institutions out there however the manufacturers warranties recommend IICRC Certified Firms. Most cleaning companies are not certified and some companies lost their certifications for non payment of dues, etc.. There are companies that have experience and knowledge and are doing just fine. Then there are those companies that just don't care or not care as much. Hey, carpet cleaning is not rocket science and you can do it yourself, right? Well it's true but like a professional mechanic vs. a hobby mechanic, thru continuing education and cleaning full time we know what's going on vs. ????. Let's just say years of experience and education can go a long way.
Big companies vs. Owner operators - A touchy subject but look at it this way with small reputable companies you don't need to worry about an assembly line of people entering your home or cleaning contractor percentages. On the other hand every business person wants to get bigger.
This document was written by Sean Green - Owner/Operator of Deluxe Professional Carpet Cleaners to help people make a good decision on choosing a carpet cleaner. Although I would like everyone to choose my company for their cleaning needs but in reality, not everyone will understand the level of cleaning I offer. So leave the bad attitudes at the door and keep it movin. Those who understand top quality, experience, education, knowledge & upfront pricing with no hidden fees, we hope to be of service for years to come, God Bless.
